Fraser Valley Community Gardens
Fraser Valley Community Gardens
The mission of the Fraser Valley Community Gardens is to enrich the individual, social, and environmental health of Grand County through gardening education and by providing residents the opportunity for learning how to grow their own food to become a more sustainable community.
The Fraser Valley Community Garden is located at our Fraser Valley Sports Complex on the first dirt road off of County Road 5, behind the ball fields, next to the ice rink in Fraser. The gardens are managed by a volunteer committee and extensively supported by the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District.
The beds at the garden are available for seasonal rental and total 40 in number. They are of various sizes (4’ x 12’, 4’ x 4’, and 2’ x 8’) and are rented at different rates dependent on size and their location inside or outside of the hoop house. All beds have individual drip irrigation systems as well as strategically positioned hoses accessible to all. The entire community garden is enclosed within a chain link fence.
The Fraser Valley poses unique challenges to both new and experienced gardeners. The short growing season, the minimal number of frost-free days throughout the summer and the extremes of temperature can feel intimidating. As a community of gardeners, we freely provide communication, insight and advice to enhance the enjoyment and success of all gardeners.
Interested persons can contact the committee at any time; season registration usually starts in March and end of season clean up happens in mid-October. All gardeners are expected to contribute to the success of the community garden; there is a wide variety of ways and numerous opportunities to do so.
For inquiries, please contact the committee at FraserValleyCommunityGardens@FraserValleyRec.org
